DEPOTS
|
Crosville's depots are the subject of an ongoing series of articles in the Review. This page is intended to complement the series by using Google Earth or Google Maps and Google Streetview to show how the area appears today. Many thanks to Don McKeown who has supplied several of the depot locations to allow the street views to work.
There are two ways of doing this:
1. Complete Set
The first is a complete set of depot locations in a file that you can use with Google Earth Google maps. If you have Google Earth (downloadable for free here) loaded on your computer, the file to use is here.
When the map has loaded you can use the 'slider' in the middle of the screen to zoom into the map (click on the '+') or zoom out (click on the '-').
You can then choose from either a 'Map' view or a 'Satellite' (aerial) view of the location.
Once you've zoomed in clicking on any of the depot names in the list on the left hand side of the screen will take you there instead.
It's also possible to see the location at street level, drag the Orange 'person' on the controls in the middle of the screen to a road near to where the blue marker is then use Streetview to move the image around.
Please note, where the description of the place includes the text 'Location not verified' the location shown is that of the town centre, not the depot. If you can improve these locations please get in touch with the webmaster.

2. Individual Depots You can also find details for each depot below. Against each depot is shown the number of the 'Review' that the details appear in, any known opening/closing dates and some links.
For those depots where the location is known a link is available to an aerial photo of the location, and a street level view of the depot's area now, both via Google Maps.
Where the location is not known the link goes to the centre of the town. If you can help with the actual location of the depot please get in touch with the webmaster.
